"William D. Lyon, 86, of Bosworth, Mo., died yesterday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Kautzman, Independence, with whom he had been staying the last three months. He was born in Columbia, Mo., and lived most of his life near Dewitt, Mo. He was a retired farmer. He also leaves his wife, Mrs. Della Lyon of the home; five sons, Jim Lyon and John Lyon, both of Bosworth, Avery Lyon of Grandview, Frank Lyon of 827 Fuller and Coleman Lyon of Independence; four other daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Creech of Grandview, Mrs. Thelma Helm of Bosworth, Mrs. Freda Fletcher and Mrs. Norma Stanley, both of Independence; a brother, John Lyon of Bosworth; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1:30 o'clock Sunday at the Edwards-Leopard chapel in Bosworth. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery, De Witt." The Kansas City Star, June 15, 1962
