Jack R. Young was a Corporal in the U. S. Army. He was a member of the 19th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division. He was killed in action while fighting the enemy in South Korea on July 31, 1950. Corporal Young was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.

Jack also served in the Army during WWII. He was on Okinawa when Japanese surrendered was and transferred to Seoul, Korea where he was stationed 14 months.
