SALEM - Karen passed away on August 11th at the age of 58 surrounded by her family. She was a Valentine Day baby born on February 14, 1952 in Kansas City, Missouri to Pauline (Fox) and Ralph Harness. Karen graduated from Raytown High School and was an active member of the school pep and majorette squads.

She met her high school sweetheart and future husband, LLOYD TOLLE during a school basketball game. Karen and Lloyd were married on June 26, 1971 in Raytown, Missouri and raised two daughters, Jennifer Lynn Wynkoop of Vancouver, Washington and Sara Elizabeth Tolle of Salem.

She has four grandchildren, Katie, Tyler, Colin and Rebecca, that were spoiled during each family visit, and an outstanding son-in-law, Scott Wynkoop.

She is also survived by her sister, Joyce Burke of Belton, Missouri; mother-in-law, Beula Tolle of Raytown, Missouri; four brother-in-laws and three sister-in-laws; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Her talent for quilting and primitive crafts is well known. Karen once had an active country crafts cottage business called "Country Edition" and opened her home for many years as a holiday country boutique to sell her hand crafted gifts.

Karen was involved with the local Boys & Girls Club in a variety of roles from volunteer camp bus driver to office administrator as well as the best bulletin board creator.

She was a recent active partner with The Friends of the Pioneer Cemetery and became involved in family genealogy working to track family history back as many as 10 generations. The trip of her lifetime was last fall when she traveled to Arkansas and found a family homestead as well as family cemetery.

Services will be held beginning at 1 p.m., Wednesday, August 18th at the Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service in Salem. Burial in City View Cemetery will follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to The Friends of the Pioneer Cemetery c/o The Salem Foundation, Pioneer Trust Bank NA Trustee, PO Box 2305, Salem, OR 97308. Karen will always be remembered for a glowing smile, silly laugh and compassion to help everyone.
