Benjamin Robinson Ralls, 85, of Front Royal, Virginia, passed away Monday, July 19, 2010 at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, West Virginia.

Mr. Ralls was born June 21, 1925 in Bentonville, Virginia, the son of the late William and Marlon Ralls.

He served in the Army of the United States from 1942 to 1945. Benjamin is a veteran of W.W. II, where he earned two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Service Medal. Upon retiring from the army, he worked at Avtex Fibers as a Charge Hand for thirty years. Benjamin occupied his early retirement years as an active member with VFW Post #1860 in Front Royal, VA and VFW Post #2123 in Winchester, VA. He served as Post Commander of Post #1860 from 1980 to 1989. During his time as Post Commander he earned many awards for his involvement, dedication, and service with the VFW. In his later years, Benjamin enjoyed sitting outside with dogs Miss Haley, Miss Katie, Patches, Buster, and Maggie.

Surviving are his recent caregiver and former wife, Evelyn R. Mauck, of Strasburg, VA; four sons, Dennis Lee Ralls, of Front Royal, VA, Edward Charles Ralls and wife, Sue, of Strasburg, VA, Jack Allen Ralls and wife, Sandra, of Front Royal, VA, and Thomas Lynn Ralls, of Front Royal, VA; three grandsons, Phillip Allen Ralls and fiancée, Jennifer Powell, Chad Michael Ralls, and Todd Benjamin Ralls. Also surviving are his brother James Henry Ralls, of Ocklawaha, FL, his sister Nettie R. Thompson, of Front Royal, VA; nephew, James Henry and wife, Betty, of Bentonville, VA; niece, Helen Lockhart, of Front Royal, VA; as well as many cousins and friends.

Benjamin was preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy V. Jenkins, Mary R. Henry, and Alice R. Lockhart.

A graveside service will be held Friday, July 23, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Culpeper National Cemetery in Culpeper, VA with Rev. John S. Farrar officiating. Military honors by Winchester VFW Post #2123.
