Laura Murthy Lowe Boyd, 79, of McComb, died May 21, 2002, at her residence.

Visitation is 6-8 tonight and 9-10 a.m. Thursday at Catchings Funeral Home in McComb. Graveside services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hollywood Cemetery with the Rev. Rick Kennedy officiating.

Mrs. Boyd was born Oct. 4 1922, in Sandy Hook. She was the daughter of Theodore Marcus "T.L." Lowe and Ida McKenzie Lowe. She was a homemaker and a former welder in the shipyards in New Orleans during World War II. She was a member of East McComb Baptist Church. Her family said she was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and loved to fish. She loved and was loved by everyone and was a very kindhearted lady and always helped anyone in need. She thought of everyone other than herself, even during her final days. She loved her family very much. She was a very special person and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. Most of all she was a true Christian and loved her Lord.

Mrs. Boyd was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Dorothy Lowe May and Marie Lowe; and one brother, Toxie Lowe.

Survivors include her loving husband of 61 years, Vernon Boyd of McComb; two daughters and sons-in-law, Glenda Boyd Hughes and Billie Taylor Hughes of McComb and Carolyn Boyd Laird and Hank Laird of Ridgeland; two brothers, Shelby and Leroy Lowe, both of McComb; three grandsons, Billy David Hughes and his wife Chris of McComb, Brian Vernon Laird and his wife Renee of Ridgeland and Daniel Boyd Hughes of Clinton; one great-grandson, Drake Taylor Hughes of McComb; one stepgreat-grandson, Ryan Daniels of McComb; six nieces, five nephews, many great-nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Hughes, Brian Laird, Joe Brown, Roger May, Mark Penneguy and David Hughes.
