Harry E. Carnahan, 85, of Leechburg, died 12:10 p.m. Monday (March 17, 2003) in Indiana Hospital, Indiana, Pa.

Born Jan. 12, 1918, in Millerstown, he lived in Leechburg most of his life before moving to Maple Valley Personal Care Home, Center Township, in January.

Mr. Carnahan was a custodian at Leechburg Area School District from 1967 to 1977. He previously was a coal miner at various mines.

He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and bingo.

Survivors include two sons, Harry E. (Mary Lou) Carnahan of Indiana, Pa., and John "Les" (Marcia) Carnahan of Canton, Ohio; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances G. Tira Carnahan on April 23, 2002; his parents, Orph and Stachie Fox Carnahan; a brother, Walter Carnathan; and four sisters, his twin, Dolores "Dee" Stark and Pearl, Sadie and May.

Friends will be welcomed by his family from 7 to 9 p.m. today at CLAWSONS, Leechburg, where funeral ceremonies will be at 1 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Stanley Hickman will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
