Mrs. Bernier retired from Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL, after 29 years as a unit secretary and nurse’s aide. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Belleville, where she served as a Eucharistic minister and was a member of the choir.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, Bennie and Frieda, nee Budde, Gain; a brother, Paul Gain; two sisters, Dorothy (Paul “Rocky”) Braun and Betty (Paul “Hopper”) Phillips; a daughter-in-law, Sheree Luna-Bernier; and a beloved granddaughter, Chandra Evans.
Surviving are a daughter and two sons, Jeanne (Randy) Evans of Lenzburg, IL, Mark (Tina) Bernier of Jefferson City, MO, and Doug Bernier of Belleville, IL; two grandchildren, Amber (Brian) Johnson and Mark (Thressa) Bernier; four great-grandchildren, Austin Blakey, Trentin Blakey, Ryder J. Bernier, and Emily Moore; a sister-in-law, Grace Gain; two special friends, Cathy Schickedanz and Neil Haukap; nieces and nephews; cousins; and her beloved cat, Gina.
Arlene’s family would like to extend special thanks to the entire staff of the Cambridge House of Swansea.
