Evelyn Elenora "Chic" Buckley, 90, of Omaha, formerly of Clarks, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011, at Hospice House in Omaha.

Chic was born June 2, 1920, on a farm near Brainard to Wilhelm and Clara Bell (Porter) Witzel.

Chic was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Buckley; and daughter, Nancy Jo Buckley.

Chic started school in Butler County. In 1928, she moved with her family to Fullerton; where she completed her education.

On Dec. 17, 1948, Evelyn Elenora Witzel and William Ernest Buckley were married in Columbus. They made their home on his farm near Clarks. Chic loved the outdoors, she loved living on the farm and helping her husband.

William died in June of 1974. Evelyn remained on the farm until 1979, when she decided to sell it and move to Omaha to be near her sister, Lila Barr and her family.

"Chic", a nickname she has carried most of her life and she is known best by her friends and relatives. She is survived by her nieces and nephews, her friends and neighbors.

Chic was also preceded in death by her parents; brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Edna Witzel; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ella and Ted Allen, Florence and Delmon Peck, LeOna Witzel, Laura and Dale Patchen, Margaret and Oliver Peck, Lila and Verdon Barr, Irene and Bob Sherman; and a very special friend, Eddie A. Booker.
