She was born Sept. 26, 1946, in Carthage, Mo. She moved to Juneau in 1959 and graduated from Juneau-Douglas High School in 1964. She was very active in Rainbow Girls and Easter Stars Nugget Chapter No. 2. She worked for the Alaska State Troopers for 10 years as a dispatcher. She married Jeff L. Fiola on Dec. 29, 1995, in Juneau. They moved in 1997 to Carthage, Mo., where she owned and operated a mail-order Internet business called Victorian Splendor and Country Delights.
Her family said her grandchildren knew her only as Big Grandma. They said they love her very much and she'll always be in their hearts. Her family also said she's the only mother, Big Grandma and best friend they'll ever have and they wouldn't want anyone else but her.
She was preceded in death by daughter Tracy L. Anderson Griffin, Juneau, and her father Charles A. Gisel II, Missouri.
She is survived by her daughter Tamara Anderson, Juneau; brothers Robert Gisel, Los Angeles, and Charles A. Gisel III, Missouri; mother Faye Nell Forrest, Juneau; stepfather Linn A. Forrest Jr., Juneau; granddaughters TajaAnn and Ashley Anderson, Juneau; grandson R. Shaun Griffin Jr., Juneau; and numerous family members and friends.
A memorial service was held Feb. 11, 2002, in Carthage, Mo. There also will be a memorial service at 2 p.m., Feb. 24, 2002, at Chapel by the Lake in Juneau. There will be a potluck after the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the AIDS Foundation in memory of Tracy A. Griffin.
