Benjamin Davis Dies in Macon,
Monroe Advertiser, January 28, 1952

Macon, Ga-Funeral services for Benjamin Franklin Davis, farmer and merchant, who died at his residence on the Thomaston Road at 4 a.m. Sunday morning after an illness of several months, will be held in the chapel of Hart's Mortuary a 3 p.m. Tuesday, The Rev. B.E. Middlebrooks and the Rev. Malcom Coleman will officiate and burial will be in Macon Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Fred Stewart, K.P. Herrin, Sr., C.E. Whalen, Homer Herin, Sr., Joe Wooten and L.E. Herrington.

Mr. Davis was born in Bibb County, son of R.B. Davis and Mrs, Josephine Hoyle Davis and had lived in Bibb and Monroe Counties all his life. He had lived on the Thomaston Road near Montpelier Springs for 15 years and was a member of the Midway Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, the former Miss Jennie Holloway; two sons, Ben F. Davis, Jr. and James H. Davis of Macon; two daughters, Mrs. Marion Seagroves, Skokie, Ill.; Mrs. Florence Brogdon, Macon; four grandchildren, Midshipman Conrad Seagroves, Annapolis, Md., Wayne and Michael Seagroves, Skokie, Ill.; Patsy Davis, Macon; one brother,
R.B. Davis, Jr., Macon; six sisters, Mrs. E.S. Bullington, Mrs. Edna Bullington and Mrs. Winnie Clifton of Macon; Mrs. Lizzie Sasser and Mrs. W.C. Grant of Valdosta; Mrs. Fenton Hollingsworth, Bell Grade, Fla.

DAVIS - HOLLOWAY Monroe Advertiser, Dec, 22 1905: A quiet marriage, flavored some what with the Gretna Green environment, took place at the Baptist church at Russellville Sunday, the contracting parties being Mr. Ben F. Davis and Miss Mary V. Holloway, with Rev. J.F. Holmes officiating. Out in the grove in a buggy snugly from view by having the curtains up, sat the couple while the pastor performed the ceremony, while around the church door stood the audience in ignorant bliss. The happy couple then went to the house of the bride's parents to a dining which the bride and her mother had prepared for friends that might come home with them from the church, but which the bride in reality knew was to be her wedding feast. Mr. and Mrs. Davis are two of the county's most popular young people, as well as being of most prominent and highly respected families. Their many friends hope that peace, happiness and prosperity will ever be their lot.
