Deseret News, The (Salt Lake City, UT) - September 30, 2002. Deceased Name: Obituary: Vernon J. Goodsell. Vernon J. Goodsell went home to his eternal sweetheart September 27, 2002. Vernon was born July 12, 1916, in Provo, UT, to Arthur Alma Goodsell and Nina Draper. He married Olive Wharram Nov 30, 1937, later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She preceded him in death Feb 12, 1992. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having served in many positions including Seventies group leader, counselor in the bishopric, stake missionary, and Sunday School president. He and Olive owned their own grocery store at one time. He also worked for the railroad, and spent many hours walking the tracks between Salt Lake and Ogden. He also worked for Geneva Steel and retired from IML Trucking Company where he had worked as a mechanic. He loved carpentry and was very artistic, having painted several pictures which hung in his home for years. His greatest love was his wife and family. They took many vacations together and loved spending time together at the family cabin on Bear Lake. His family will always remember wonderful Christmases together and Vernon's love of decorating his home for the holidays.

He is survived by his children, Norman (DeeAnn) Goodsell, Ronald (Peg) Goodsell, Sylvia (Doug) Wright, Joan Ruth, Daniel (Carolyn) Goodsell, Bonnie Goodsell; 15 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents, wife, four brothers, one sister, and one grandson. Services will be 2 p.m. Wed. Oct 2, 2002 in the chapel at Mountain View Memorial Estates, 3115 E. 7800 S. (Bengal Blvd). Visitations will be at Mountain View Tues. 6-8 p.m. and Wed. one hour prior to services.
