Charlie Edward "Chock" White, was a lifetime resident of Fort Gibson, OK area. He went to school at Perkins, east of Fort Gibson. He died at his home east of Fort Gibson on August 23, 2010 at 8:11 a.m. surrounded by his family. Charlie was born February 11, 1920 in Watts, OK to Harmon and Alice (Lamon) White, he was the second child of six children. He moved to the Perkins Corner area east of Fort Gibson at the age of two. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He married Evelena Gillispie February 7, 1946. They were married 35 years and had six children, three sons and three daughters, before her death. He retired from Muskogee Iron Works in 1981. Charlie enjoyed farming, dancing, whittling and fishing. He was an accomplished dowser also known as water witching. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #20 and was a Mason. He married Edna Evans on June 16, 1985. He was a resident of Fort Gibson, OK and passed away at the age of 90. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Raymond and George White, Sr., first wife, Evelena and son, Charlie Edward Jr. Survivors include his second wife, Edna (Evans) White of the home, two sons, and daughters-in-law, Rickie and Vicky White, Roger and Doylene White, of Fort Gibson, three daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Teddy Herber of Eufaula, Vevelena Little of Fort Gibson, Barbara and Jim Baskins Jr. of Braggs, two step-sons, Bill and Yvonne Robbins of Montana, Donald and Martha Robbins of Claremore, one step daughter, Virginia Lee Robbins, of Richmond, VA. Six grandchildren, Stephanie Wilson and husband, Brad, Michael Courtney and wife, Jeanie, Lacie Roberts and husband, Rodney, Jennifer Stacy and husband, Mike, Sabrina Qualls and husband, Brandon, Bridgette Peters and husband, Billy. 12 great-grandchildren, Emily Hamm, Kailey and Braden Roberts, Hollie and Samuel Courtney, Hunter, Makenzie Stacy, Kynlea and Paisley Qualls, Kaithlynn, Maci and Khali Peters, one brother, Ray White of Tahlequah, two sisters, Sarah Ellen Farguson of Fort Gibson and Carrie Farguson of Stilwell, many nieces, nephews, friends and several step grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at the Crescent Valley Baptist Church at Tahlequah with Reverend Cleatis Jones officiating. Pallbearers will be Billy Ray White, Brady White, George White, Jr., Larry Gardner, Timmy Smith and Tony King. Burial will be in Holland Cemetery under the direction of Millsap Funeral Service of Fort Gibson.
