BURGNER, REV. HORACE EMMET "PAPA", 78, of Kissimmee, FL, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the early hours of Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008 surrounded by his loving family. Born Jan. 4, 1930 in Lakeland, FL, Horace was the son of George Cyril and Bessie Mae Herndon Burgner. He served as Pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Kissimmee for 32 years and in his lifetime had served over 54 years as a preacher, missionary and pastor for several other churches. Preceded in death by brothers, Maurice and Charles, Horace is survived by his wife of 59 years, Katherine Laverne; sons, Rev. Carl M. Burgner and Richard L. and wife, Sheila Burgner; daughter, Linda and husband, Bo Johnson; sister, Hazel Kirkland; brothers, Howard R. and James T. Burgner; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6-8PM, Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008 at Emmanuel Baptist Church where funeral services are also scheduled to be held Friday at 10AM. Pastors Rick Scarlett and T.D. Terry will officiate. Following the funeral service, interment is scheduled for 2:30PM at Fitzgerald Cemetery in Lakeland. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to Emmanuel Baptist Church Mission Fund, P.O. Box 420722, Kissimmee, FL 34742.
