Husband of Caroline "Carrie" S. (Estes) Clark (1834-1914). Father of three children with Carrie: Frank W., Etta Carrie "Elsie" (Clark) Rallya and William E. Clark. Frank died at age 2 yrs, 8 months old, Carrie, their daughter, died at age 24, and their son William died between the age of 31-41. (It is possible that the William E. Clark who died in 1906 and is buried at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Cook County, Illinois, is Emerson and Carrie's son, William.)

Emerson was the son of Col. Warren Clark and Lydia (Crary) Clark.
