Francis was born the son of Philip and Ellerine (Perkins) Copus. He attended Baraboo High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving his country during the Vietnam War.
Francis was united in marriage to Charlotte Premo on May 28, 1999 in Baraboo.
Francis was a jack-of-all-trades where he enjoyed repairing items for family and friends. He loved to tinker around and fix anything that was broken. He was a honest hard-working man who was full of life. He will be truly missed by his family, friends, and everyone who knew him.
Francis is survived by his wife, three brothers, two sisters, a son, four stepdaughters, 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Philip A. Copus and mother, Ellerine M. (Perkins); brother-in-law, Gary McCauley; grandparents on both sides; and many aunts and uncles and a grandson, Steven Schwartz Jr.
