John H. Carlson
John H. Carlson was born at Fergus Falls, Minn., June 24, 1883 where he grew to manhood. He started railroading at an early age, working out of Glenwood. On June 24, 1908 he married to Maude J. Furtney, and two years later moved to Enderlin.
He was a 32nd degree Mason and was a member of the El Zagal Shrine and Scottish Rite at Fargo, the Blue lodge of A.F.&A.M. at Glenwood, A.O.U.W., at Fargo and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers lodge No. 671 at Glenwood.
Besides Mrs. Carlson he is survived by two sons, Lloyd, Soo line fireman at Enderlin, and John in the navy at San Francisco; two daughters, Mrs. Cecil Rarick and Mrs. Clarence Cox of Enderlin, a brother, A.H. Carlson of Wahpeton and a sister, Mrs. O.J. Tiseth of Fergus Falls.
Services were conducted in the Methodist church Tuesday afternoon with Rev. B.B. Curtis officiating. Members of the local Masonic lodge attended in a body and the Masonic ritual given by Mr. Butler followed the sermon.
Pallbearers were A.N. Hofland, F.W. Kempf, Wm. Congdon, C.S. Bridges, James Porter and Henry Artz, all brotherhood engineers.
John, who was unable to be present for the services, was expected to join his folks Wednesday in Minneapolis where the remains were shipped for cremation.
