A son of John and Kate (Roche) Davine, Thomas was born at Kilmurry, County Clare, Ireland in 1828. His wife was Margaret Carmody. He died at the age of 32 (cause of death was an accident - see below) on July 3, 1860.

In 1860, Michael Hewitt and Thomas Davine lost their lives while digging a well near St. Bridget's Church. It seems that, while digging, they struck a large bolder some feet down and set off a charge of gun powder to smash it. Immediately after the blast one of the men went down into the well to inspect the blasted boulder and, because of the lack of oxygen, he suffocated. The other man, seeing his friend collapse, went down to get him and he also suffocated (Rutland Herald, July 12, 1860).

Many of his siblings, including: Maria, Patrick, Margaret, Ann, Bridget, John and James are buried at Saint Bridget's Cemetery in West Rutland, Vermont. All were immigrants from Kilmurry, County Clare, Ireland and all became residents at West Rutland, Vermont probably due to the Marble Qaurries in which they found steady employment.
