Mr. Louis J. Bartels departed this life on March 29, 2013 at the age of 85. Beloved husband of Patricia Ford Bartels for 64 years, son of the late Louis J. Bartels and Lillian Price Bartels. He is survived by his 7 children, Catherine Robinson of Grosse Ile, MI, Constance Elko(David) of Austin, TX, Steven P. Bartels (Baton Rouge, LA), Adrienne Comiskey(F. Patrick) of. River Ridge/LaPlace, Allison McInnis(G Michael) of Mandeville, Elaine Antoine(Stephen) of Atlanta, GA and Carol O. Bartels of River Ridge, 17 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. A lifelong resident of New Orleans, Mr. Bartels was a parishioner of St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church for the past 45 years. A U.S. Navy veteran, he worked as Corporate Secretary of George Engine Company and then comptroller of Stewart Stevenson in Harvey, La until his retirement in 1998. Visitation begins at 11:00 AM followed by Funeral Mass at 1:00 PM on Wednesday April 3rd at Greenwood Funeral Home located at 5200 Canal Blvd. Interment immediately following at Greenwood Cemetery.
