Hubert Lyle Henry, the son of Elmer and Mary Ulsh Henry, was born May 10, 1905 in Jewell County, and died December 26, 1986, at the Nuckolls County Brodstone Memorial Hospital in Superior, Nebr., at the age of 81 years, seven months and 16 days.
He was a lifelong resident of Hardy. He attended Hardy public schools.
He was married to Katherine J. Petersen on October 15, 1924, at the home of Clair Henry. They had two sons. Following their marriage the couple resided for some time on the family farm. Upon leaving farming, he did carpentry work, and also was a drayman before working 27 years for the Hardy Union Coop, the Belleville and Concordia elevators, serving as manager of all three. After retirement, he worked part-time for the Good Samaritan Center in Superior doing maintenance work.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Order of Eastern Star, Scottish Rite Masonic Bodies and Shrine, charter member of the Superior Elks Lodge, the Superior Country Club, member of the Hardy Union Church, and also had served as the mayor of Hardy.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Nina Train and brothers, Clair and Ernest Henry.
He is survived by his wife, of Hardy; sons: Edwin of McPherson, and Herbert of Lincoln, Nebr., sister Hazel Rhoads of Hardy; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; nieces, nephews.
Funeral services were held December 29 at the Union Church in Hardy, Rev. Danny Jackson officiating. Interment was in Hardy cemetery.
