Towanda Jeanette Barnett, 87, of Garfield Ark., went to be with the her Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010. Towanda was born Oct. 23, 1922, in Lubbock, Texas, To the Late Reuben Norvell and Lillian Moore Norvell.
She married Pershing Bennett on Jan. 17, 1942.
Towanda, referred to by many as Sis Barnett, was a retired minister of the Pentecostal Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Pershing Barnett; her parents; and one sister, Omega Belle Norvell.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Barnett and wife, Darlene, of Bella Vista and Jerry Barnett and wife Rosie, of Normanna, Texas; one daughter, Charlene Artman and husband, Rick, of Springfield, Mo.; three brothers, Phillip Norvell of San Antonio, Texas, Kelly Norvell of Garfield, Ark,; one sister, Carrie Nell Henry of Sea Drift, Texas; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, 2010, at Rollins Funeral Home Chapel in Rogers.
Internment will follow at Ruddick Cemetery in Garfield.
