Jorge Raúl Recalde (aka "El Condor de Traslasierra" or "Caballo de Lona") was the best Latin American rally driver. He began his career in his hometown, Mina Clavero, in 1970. During the following years, he raced in many categories, but his favorite was the rally. He was the first Latin American to win a World Championship Rally (Argentina, 1988). Sadly, on March 10, 2001, he suffered a fatal heart attack when he was pushing his car during the Villa Dolores´Rally. His body was cremated and his ashes scattered on the roads that saw him race so many times.
