After raising eight children, Sophie spent many years in the retail industry where she made countless friends. She additionally was a devoted volunteer at the Cape Cod Children's Museum. She loved music, dancing, karaoke, shopping, the Boston Red Sox, and most especially, family gatherings.
Sophie is survived by her children Linda Romanyszyn of Palm Coast, FL; Phyllis Breeze of Fort Pierce, FL; Mary Jean Finlayson of Jensen Beach, FL; Judith Doucette of Sandwich, William Almeida, III of Masphee, Steven Almeida of Rapid City, SD and Richard Almeida of Wayland, MA. Sophie was predeceased by her son Ronald Almeida. Sophie had 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, a brother Joseph Souza of Falmouth, five sisters, Irene Souza, Cecelia Souza and Mary DeMello, all of Falmouth, Evelyn Cady of Fort Collins, CO and Kathleen Whitebread of Chatham. She was sister of the late Louis Souza, and Beatrice Reiley.
Visiting Hours will be Sunday, May 5th, from 5 to 8 PM at Chapman Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Falmouth, Center. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 AM on Monday, May 6th, in St. Anthony's Church, 167 East Falmouth Highway, East Falmouth. Burial will follow in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
