Our precious aunt, sister and friend Merlyne Rasmussen Carter, passed away quietly from this life Friday evening, Aug. 24, 2007 at the age of 87.
She was born in Draper, Utah May 25, 1920 to Edward Miller Rasmussen and Mary Jane Andrus. She gained her education through the Draper schools, Jordan High School and life experiences.
She married Roy Carter; they were later divorced, having no children. She adopted into her loving heart all her nieces and nephews and extended family.
She learned her hard work ethics in her home and father's store. In continued as she washed trains for Southern Pacific Railroad, pressed shirts in tailoring shops and laundry establishments, chauffeuring Army officials, serving as supervisor in housekeeping at University of Utah Hospital for 15 years, as a crossing guard, and serving in Senior Companion programs.
She is survived by one brother Sonne (Ramona) Rasmussen of Draper; seven nieces and eight nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Milo E. Rasmussen, and two sisters, Ruth R. Allen and Barbara R. Fitzgerald.
The family wishes to express their sincere love and gratitude to her friends and neighbors at the City Plaza apartments for their love and caring over the past 12 years. We also wish to thank Caresource Hospice personnel and Crosslands personnel for their many acts of kindness, love and caring.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug 29, 2007 at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, where family and friends may visit Tuesday 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday 10-10:45 a.m. Interment in Draper City Cemetery.
