Floyd Bates, of 3008 Lindsay St., died Friday.
Born in Fairfield County, he was a son of the late Judge and Mattie Bates. He was a retired automobile mechanic from Evans Gas Station.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Sarah Western - Buckner Bates; daughters, Misses Diane and Ilean Bates of Columbia, a son, Floyd Bates jr. of San Antonio, Texas; sisters, Mrs. Francis Bates Riley and Mrs. Mary Bates Murray of Columbia, Mrs. Carrie Bates Liston, Mrs. Vivian Bates Carr, Mrs. Mattie Bates Dixon and Mrs. Essie Bates McKenzie of New York; and grandchildren. Plans will be announced by Leevy's Funeral Home. Services for Floyd Bates will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Leevy's Funeral Home, conducted by the Reb. Heyward Hinton. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery.
