A retired lumber company manager, Nelson E. Allen Jr., 92, died at Southwest Washington Medical Center, Wednesday, April 12, 2000.

Mr. Allen was born June 21, 1907, in Vancouver and lived in Clark County all his life.
He graduated from Vancouver High School and attended Oregon State University.

In the 1930s and 1940s he worked for Northwestern Electric Company and Jantzen Beach Amusement Park. He worked at the shipyards during World War II and then worked in the lumber business for many years.

His wife of 44 years, Shirley D. McCann, and his wife of 17 years, Violet Rich, both preceded him in death.

Survivors include one daughter, Donna A. Schneider of Bellevue, Wash.; one son, Patrick of Ridgefield; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
There will be a gathering from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday in the recreation area at Crystal Creek Apartments, 2600 N.E. Minnehaha St. Evergreen Staples Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
