Obituary for Hoyat Barnett

Hoyat R. Barnett, 60, died on Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at his residence in the arms of his beloved soulmate Rhoda. He was a native of Kentucky, son of the late Botany and Audrey Barnett. Hoyat was a truck driver for the city of Johnson City and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lloyd and Roy Barnett.

Survivors include: his beloved soulmate, Rhoda Cross of the home; a son, Danny Cross of Jonesborough; a daughter, Lisa Cross of Johnson City; a step-son, Buddy Cross of Bluff City; a step-daughter, Millie Wainscott of Jonesborough; three brothers, James Barnett, Elizabethton, Lawrence Dean Barnett of Johnson City and Ernest Barnett of Virginia; three sisters, Faye Barnett, Mt. City, Flonnie Barnett, Kentucky and Flossie Barnett of Kentucky; two granddaughters, Samantha Cross and Cristy Cross and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service is scheduled for Friday, September 15, 2006 at 8:00 p.m. in the North Chapel of the Morris-Baker Funeral Home under the direction of Dr. Alan King. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until time of service at eight. A committal service will be conducted on Saturday, September 16, 2006 in the Humphries Cemetery at Watauga Flats at 1:00 p.m. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 12:20 p.m. to go in procession.
