She was born as Jantje van Dijken at the country village Zuidwolde, municipality Bedum, in the mid-northern part of the Dutch northeastern province Groningen. Her parents are farmer Lambertus van Dijken, 29 y, and Anje Wigboldus.
On 4 May 1893 Jantje (12 y) arrived with her parents, laborer Lambertus (42 y) and Antje (40 y) Van Dyken, and her siblings Pieter (15 y), Trientje (14 y), Johanna (11 y), Pieterke (9 y), Simon (4 y), Arend (3 y) and Ponke (1 y) on the SS Spaarndam at New York, Ellis Island.
On 5 November 1901 Jennie Van Dyken, 21 y, residing at Manhattan, married there to John Bos, 26 y, also born in the province Groningen and residing at Manhattan too. Witnesses are their fathers John H Bos and Lambertus Van Dyken.

She died in December 1951 a few months after the death of her husband John Bos in August in Gallatin County, Montana, at the age of 71 years.
