James W Bradley married Emiline Cogdill Nov 15, 1846 in Buchanan Co., MO. They had 12 Children they were Sarah E, Lucinda, Jacob, Emiley L, James, William, George W, Henry Clay, Perlinia, Linda P, Ada L, & John S.

James W Bradley married 2nd wife Mary Jane{Coffey} Hale
the widow of Thomas Hale and the sister of E.McDowell Coffey, on 2~Nov~1873. They had no children.

In Missouri, James Washington Bradley acquired some slaves. The slave schedule of the 1850 census shows that he owned two blacks, two females aged 10 and aged 7. The 1860 slave schedule does not show him as a slave holder. Family tradition is that he disposed of his slaves before the CIVIL WAR.

James was a mason, his remains were not buried in the Camden Point Masonic{now Community}Cemetery,but were placed beside those of his first wife, Emaline.

James, who was affectionately known as "Uncle Wash" died on his farm east of Camden Point,14~Dec~1907. In his will he bequeathed land in Township 54, Ranges 33~34, Sections 32, 33, and 36 to certain members of his family. To some children and grandchildren he left only $5.00 as he "had already given them all that he desired them to have. He was a faithful member of the Christian Church.

James Washington was a Mexican War Veteran.
