Printess W. Baker (1924 - 2011)
Printess W. Baker, 86, went to be with the Lord Saturday, May 7, 2011, in Fort Worth. Service: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Christ Church Assembly of God. Interment: East Greenwood Cemetery in Weatherford. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Funeral Home.
Printess W. Baker was born July 2, 1924, in Haskell to Albert and Ada Baker. He was a World War II veteran, drafted into the U.S. Navy in 1944 shortly after his high school graduation. Printess was assigned to South Pacific 6th Fleet and served until 1946 when he received his honorable discharge as petty officer third class in the position of fire control. After returning from the Navy, he married the love of his life, Dorothy Faye Gouge, on Aug. 18, 1946. Printess worked 57 years in the printing and graphic arts business. He held several positions from pressman to plant superintendent. Printess leaves a great legacy with his wisdom, leadership and Christian principles. He served a number of years on several church boards; holding positions as treasurer, Adult Sunday school teacher, school superintendent, deacon and elder. He was a great wood craftsman and accomplished so many building projects, customizing and building two family homes.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Ada Baker; son, Ronald Dean Baker; and sister, Mary Pearl Fant.
Survivors: Wife of 64 years, Dorothy Baker; son, Larry Baker and wife, Debbie; daughter, Becky Titsworth; grandchildren, Lisa and Will Hall, Kevin and Lorie Baker, Skip and Kate Titsworth, and Christopher and Benjamin Titsworth; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Duward Baker; sister, Thelma Thomason; many other family members; and countless friends.
