She was born Ruby Seraphine Elbert, Jan. 24, 1910, in Pierce City, Mo., to Charles and Mary Elbert. On Sept. 6, 1937, in Reno, she married Gerald Judson Bennett, who died Feb. 9, 1973. She owned a lapidary shop in Monte Vista, Calif., for 15 years. Twenty-five years ago she moved to Grants Pass.
She was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church. She enjoyed rockhounding, cooking, growing herbs, gardening and canning.
Survivors include two brothers, Walter Elbert of Grants Pass and Charles Elbert of Vancouver, Wash.; and three sisters, Loretta Garcia of Tigard, Florence Eberhardt of Fremont, Calif., and Barbara Hokanson of Salem.
