Muriel Barrett, 94, of Port Orchard died Dec. 19, 2002, at her home.
She was born June 2, 1908, in Saratoga, Wash., to Asa Henry and Mary Amelia (Earley) Williams. She graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in Detroit Lakes, Minn., and from a teacher's college in St. Cloud, Minn.
She married Walter L. Barrett on Oct. 28, 1931, in Coupeville, Wash. He died in 1963.
Mrs. Barrett taught school in Frazee, Minn., before her marriage. Afterward, she became a homemaker and mother.
During the 1950s, the Barretts built 15 homes in the Kingston area, where they lived for many years. Mrs. Barrett contributed to the homes by doing finish work and building fireplaces.
She loved the outdoors. Working in her flower garden was a favorite pastime.
Survivors include one daughter, Judy Eshom and her husband, Coy, of Port Orchard; one brother, Kenneth Williams and his wife, Dorothy, of Coarsegold, Calif.; four grandchildren, Barbara Dorey of California, Marlene Doavis of Kennewick, Lillian Al Farsi of Oman, and Steve Eshom of Vancouver, Wash.; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Dennis and Dale Barrett; a brother, Maurice Williams; a sister, Jeannette Armstrong; and a grandson, Michael Barrett.
Private interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Bremerton under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard.
