Phyllis Norris Piggott, 80, cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, died March 11, 2009 in Bountiful, Utah. She resided at 885 East Millstream Way (1450 South) in Bountiful, Utah at the time of her death.
Phyllis was born April 16, 1928 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Jacob Norris and Lucy Annie Smith with her twin brother, Frank "Bud" Norris.
She grew up in the small town of Randolph, Utah and was the youngest of twelve children.
She attended the Rich County Schools and LDS Business College in Salt Lake City; she worked briefly in California before returning to Utah. Soon after, she met and married the love of her life, David Piggott, on June 22, 1951 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised six children in their home city of Bountiful. After raising her children, Phyllis sold real estate in the Bountiful area from 1983-1995.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and eventually her grandchildren. She was always available for her family and friends, she welcomed them into her home and her heart, and was cherished by all who were blessed to know her.
When we remember Phyllis, we think of the vivacious, honest, generous, and loving woman who loved and accepted each person just as they were. She lived the quote that hung on her refrigerator, "I hope I will always be tolerant of those who sin differently from me."
Her absence will be deeply felt by her family, ward members and friends. She fulfilled many callings in the LDS Church and was a shining example of service with unconditional love.
Phyllis is survived by her husband, David, her children, Rori (Nancy) Piggott, Karen Piggott-Brenner, Joanne Piggott, Laureen Wilson, Nathan (Bonnie) Piggott, and Richard (Angie) Piggott, thirteen grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her eleven brothers and sisters.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2009 at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary (295 North Main Street) from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 16, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mueller Park Seventh Ward Chapel (1800 East Mueller Park Road (1800 South) on Monday; visitation one hour preceding.
