TOWANDA DAILY REVIEW
JANUARY 11, 1911
Mrs. Ann Rinebold Bender died Monday evening of this week at 7:30 at the home of her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Samuel Bender near Overton. She was born Sept. 12, 1829, in Cherry Township, Sullivan County about three miles from where she spent her whole life.
In January, 1848, she married George Bender and moved into the virgin forest of Cherry township with not a clearing of any kind anywhere near. She, with her husband, cleared up a farm which at the time that they began their labors, had not had a brush cut on the 100 acre farm. She was unassuming in her manner. The whole community is a testimony in the many acts of kindness she was ever ready and willing to bestow. In sickness or troubles she was always one of the first to do what she might to lend a helping hand. She was a member of the German Reformed Church at Overton and so long as her health permitted she was an active member of her church. She was a devoted wife and an exemplary mother. While she has been broken in health the last couple of years, she never complained but patiently awaited her Master's call. Ripened in years and fully prepared for "that perfect and better home," she passed to a well earned reward.
She is survived by her children, L.O. Bender of New Albany, G.W. Bender of Overton, William of Hughesville, P.A., Mrs. Amanda Dickinson of Little Falls, Minn., and Chas. M. Bender of Towanda. Funeral will be held at the German Reformed Church at Overton, Thursday morning, January 12, 1911.
