Grover Lee Latimer was the son of Lyman L. and Arrena (McLin) Latimer. His father had been born in Kosciusco County, IN and his mother in Hocking County, OH. Both had come west in their youth and settled in Jackson County, KS - he with his parents on a farm north of Holton and she with her family on a farm near Soldier. The young couple made their home on a farm north of Holton, in the midst of many other Latimer relatives. Grover was the youngest child and only son of their six children, his siblings being Sarah Jane, Rebecca Elizabeth, Mary Minerva, Lena Mercedes and Charlotte Arrena.

Grover's Latimer grandparents, Francis and Rebecca, are buried at the Holton Cemetery, while his McLin grandparents, Thomas and Nancy Jane, are buried at the Soldier Cemetery.

Grover was married to Anna Elizabeth Davis on Sept. 8, 1910 and to this union were born two children, a son Gene and a daughter Shirley. In 1920 this family migrated westward to Wyoming where they became ranchers near Lander, living there until their deaths. They were of the Episcopal faith.

Survivors, in addition to his wife and children, include six grandchildren and two sisters: Mary M. and her husband Wm. Gruver, of Rawlings, WY and Lena M. and her husband Henry Goldsmith, of Chickasha, OK.

(Some of the information in this memorial came from his daughter, Shirley (Latimer) Steelman of John Day, OR.)
