John Pape of Ustick Passes Away
Well Known Ustick Township Citizen Found Dead in Bed Thursday Morning.
John Pape, a resident of Ustick township all his life, was found dead in his bed early Thursday (25 Feb 1937) morning. He was 62 years and 30 days of age. His death was caused by heart disease and it was discovered by his wife when he did not answer her calls early Thursday morning. His death was unexpected, as he apparently had been in good health.
Obituary
Mr. Pape was born in Ustick township on Jan. 26, 1875, and was the son of John and Melvin (Green) Pape. He was educated in the schools in Ustick township. He was married to Rosella McKee of Ideal, Carroll county, at Ideal on Feb, 4, 1904. The couple celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary just three weeks before his death. Mr. Pape had been a member of the Spring Valley Presbyterian church for many years.
One son, Loren Pape, was born to this union. Mr. Pape is survived by his widow and son; one grandson, Gordon Pape; one brother, Noah E. Pape of Morrison; and two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Milnes of Morrison and Mrs. Jane Mitchell of Thomson.
Funeral Services
Funeral rites were held at 1:30 o’clock Sunday afternoon from the home and at 2 p.m. in the Spring Valley church, the Rev. J.E. Corwin of Fulton officiating.
Burial was in Grove Hill cemetery, Morrison, the following acting as pallbearers: M.L. Kratz, Richard Dale, Martin Schipper, Jacob VanDyke, Claus Huizenga, Frank Badtke, William Ferguson and Frank Guilliand. Those in charge of the flowers were Mrs. Harvey Cobb, Mrs. William Bechtel and Mrs. Harry Montgomery.
