James L. Dill, 83, passed away Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Heartland Care Center in Bellefontaine, Ohio. He was born June 24, 1927, the son of the late Roy W. and Ida B. (Evans) Dill in East Liberty, Ohio.

He was a retired elementary school teacher as well as a principal of the Bellefontaine City Schools for thirty five years, working at both Western and Northeastern Elementary buildings. He was a native of East Liberty, Ohio and a graduate of East Liberty High School, Cedarville College and Miami University.

He is survived by his wife Barbara Joan (Amerine) Dill, whom he married August 4, 1952 in Richmond, Indiana; one son, Curt (Karen) Dill of Bellefontaine; two daughters, Karen (John) Tracey of Zanesfield, Ohio and Joanna (Todd) Wisse of Bellefontaine; one brother, Forest (Peggy) Dill of Norfolk, Virginia, and a sister; Nancy (Bob May) Hague of Richwood, Ohio; seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by an infant sister and two brothers, Harley and Robert Dill.

He was a member of New Salem Lutheran Church, the East Liberty Masonic Lodge # 247 and the American Legion Post of East Liberty. He served two years in the United States Army.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine with Gene Marine officiating. Burial will follow the funeral service in the East Liberty Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home Tuesday, October 19, 2010 from 2 to 8 P.M.
