Son of Elbert Bass Groves 1878-1951 and Myrtle Virginia (Daisy) Taylor 1882-1954.
ROARING SPRINGS - Algie Groves, 91, died Sunday, Jan 14, 2001 in Lubbock.

Graveside services will be at 2 pm Tuesday in Roaring Springs Cemetery with the Rev. Rickey Lawrence, pastor of Roaring Springs Full Gospel Church, officiating. Masonic graveside rites will be by the Matador masonic Lodge. Arrangements are by Seigler Funeral Home of Matador.

Mr. Groves was born in Stonewall County and moved to Matador. A 1927 graduate of Matador High School, he retired as resident engineer for the Texas Highway Department in Matador in 1974. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Roaring Springs, the Matador Masonic Lodge No. 824, the Lubbock Scottish Rite Bodies and the Amarillo Red Cross of Constantine.

He married Rita Nichols in 1935 at Childress.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, James Truman Groves of Arcadia Ca., Pat Groves of Los Altos Hills, Ca., and Mike Groves of San Jose, Ca.; a brother Dick Groves of San Antonio; two sisters, Avis Dooley of Arlington and Hattie Tee Tomlinson of Katy, and three grandchildren.
