Nancy grew up in Boston's Back Bay, and attended Bryn Mar College for two years before coming out at age 19 and marrying Maurice M. Osborne. She had four children, and except for the years during WW II lived her married life in the Back Bay. During WW II she and Maurice lived in Dayton, Ohio, and then Washington, D.C.
As a girl she spent her summers in Beverly Farms near West Beach where extended members of her family all summered. At some point after marrying she and her family, including her widowed mother, began going to Ipswich, Mass., in the summers, and in 1929 she bought a house there.
She belonged to several Boston women's clubs: The Nucleus, The Tuesday Club, and The Parliamentary Law Club. She was also involved in charitable work.
