Ross "Joe" Arbise, 66, of 906 E. 12th St., died at 5:11 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 2002 at St. Mary's Hospital.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. tonight at Solon & Baker Funeral Home. The rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Church. His brother-in-law: Rev. Patrick Riordan will officiate. Music will be provided by the Resurrection Choir under the direction of organist, Geraldine Smith.

Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Full military rites, including honor guard, firing squad, taps and flag folding, will be conducted by Streator Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492 and Streator Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217.

Serving as pallbearers will be sons-in-law: Keith Gilman and Brad Zack; and nephews: Doug Boresi, Dan "Curly" Riordan, Nick Riordan and Joe Starkey. Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren: David and Kari Gilman; Joshua, Jeremy and Christine Zack; and Tony and Christopher Arbise.

He was born December 9, 1936 in LaSalle, a son of Joseph and Mildred (Bradish) Arbise. He married Judith Riordan on June 25, 1960 at Immaculate Conception Church. She survives.

Also surviving are his mother of Streator; a son: Greg (Julie) Arbise of Newman, Georgia; daughters: Ann (Keith) Gilman and Amy (Brad) Zack, both of Springfield; seven grandchildren; brothers: James (Rachel) Arbise of Brea, California; Larry (Grace) Arbise of Streator; and Mike (Leslie) Arbise of Springfield; and sisters: Frances Horan-Steeves of Aripeka, Florida; and Vicky (Joseph) Starkey of Streator.

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, in infancy.

He served in the United States Navy.

A Streator resident since childhood, he retired from Owens-Illinois Glass Company in 1994 where he was an electrician.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.
