Sylvanus Bryant was b. May 5, 1758. He served during the Revolutionary War, first as a private from June 27, 1776, to June 7, 1777, in Capt. William Weston's Co, sent for the defense of the harbor of Plymouth, then enlisting and serving three years in the 12th Batt. of Mass. forces under command of Col. Gamaliel Bradford. Soon after the close of the war, he settled in Cornish, where he m. Judith Chase, dau. of Moses and Hannah (Brown) Chase, b. Nov. 26, 1764, and d. Oct. 2, 1811. They lived a little north of the center of the town on the farm more recently owned and occupied by Joseph B. Comings. Mr. Bryant d. Oct. 12, 1832. Children all born in Cornish.
