Joyce Haltom Manning Headley, age 85, passed away to be with the Lord Thursday, August 11, 2011 at the Crossing. She was born May19, 1926 to the late Dale Haltom and Ethel Haltom Allbritton. She was a very loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
She married her childhood sweetheart, the late W.B. Bill Manning, Jr. on November 20, 1947. They lived most of their 38 years in Malvern but also lived many years abroad and traveled the world. She later married her wonderful second husband, the late Woodrow Wilson Headley on July 4, 1996. she was blessed to have two loving and wonderful men in her life. Joyce was employed for many years at Atkinson Funeral Home in the burial insurance department. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her in-laws, Alma and W.B. Manning, Sr., a sister in-law and brother in-law , Nancy Manning York and Roy York, and a step-daughter, Francis Richardson Headley.
Joyce is survived by one son, Bill Manning III and wife, Barbara, one daughter, Marsha Manning Williams and husband, Chris, four grandchildren, Brooke Tidball and husband, Gary, Brad Manning, Blair Williams and Landon Williams all of Malvern, three step-sons, Glen Headley of Lavaca, Lynn Headley and wife, Debbie of Malvern, and Michael Paul Headley and wife, Cathy of Louisiana, nine step-grandchildren, Rob Headley, Mark Headley, Tyler Headley, Chad Headley, Matt Headley, Holly Ramsey, Mike Headley, Elizabeth Wright, and Chris Headley, one sister-in-law, Louise Bailey of Malvern, and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James and Sonny Headley of Dallas, Texas, a step-brother, Orval Allbritton of Hot Springs, and step-sister, Carolyn Allbritton Cauffiel of Benton. She is also blessed to be survived by three very special friends, Marguarite Tyler, Mary Evelyn O'Neal Roseberry, and Francis Bailey. Their friendship and special outings meant the world to her.
Many thanks to all of the staff and care takers at The Crossing. With a very special thank you to Barbie, Tina, Mandy and Jennifer. Your were in and out of her room throughout everyday to the very end and it was your love, dedication, care and compassion that enabled her to have the very best quality of life that she so much deserved. You all are truly a gift from God and hold a very special place in her heart and ours. Also a special thanks to Hospice Home Care for your help.
Services will be held Sunday, August 14 at 2:00pm in the Regency Chapel with Brother Ronnie Hardin and Brother LaVon Post officiating. Interment will be at Rockport Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Don Rash, Tommy Atkinson, Mike Bailey, Haltom Higgs, Chris Walthall, and Huck Cummings. Honorary pallbearers are Ed Howard, Jim Hunter Birch, the staff of the Crossing, Dr. Bruce Burton and the Friendship Sunday School Class.
In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church or to The Crossing, 720 N. Walco Rd Malvern Arkansas, 72104.
