Born in Greenville County, he was the son of the late Walter H. Cothran Sr. and Geneva Duncan Cothran. Mr. Cothran was a certified service technician for 25 years retiring from D&D Motors, was an avid hunter and dirt bike rider enthusiast, member of National Rifle Association and SCDNR Team and a member of New Liberty Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 47 ½ years, Irene Bryant Cothran of the home; daughter, Janet Scott and husband, Craig, of Williamston; son, George Cothran and wife, Cindy, of Taylors; sister, Evelyn Ligon; two brothers, Robert and John Cothran; two granddaughters, Summer Scott and Penny Caulder; four grandsons, Craig Scott, Jr., Chad Scott, Daniel Cothran and Jason Henry; and three great-grandchildren: Jordan Scott, Devin Scott and Alexis Henry.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. at The Howze Mortuary Chapel with burial to follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at The Howze Mortuary.
The family will be at 93 Edith Drive, Taylors.
