Doris Jean Begley, 73, of Tekonsha and formerly of Battle Creek passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2009 after a lengthy illness. She was born in Battle Creek on December 16, 1935 the daughter of Charles and Genevieve (Kitchen) Walker.
Doris married Paul Field in 1952; he preceded her in death in 1963. She then married Winfred Hollis Begley in 1969; he preceded her in death on October 2, 2005. Doris was also preceded in death by her parents; 2 daughters, Janice Hopson and Billie Sue Roose; 2 granddaughters, Melanie Ashley and April Ashley; a great-granddaughter, Angel Howard and a sister, Mary Lou McCarty.
Doris is survived by her children, Judy (George) Ashley of Bellevue, Dean (Bernice) Begley of Austintown, Ohio, Nena (Carl) Peak of Battle Creek, Rick (Sharon) Begley of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Karen Fields-Beers of Tekonsha, Sherry (Harold) Tuttle of Battle Creek, Duane (Jody) Begley of Battle Creek and Charles Fields of Tekonsha; a sister, Ruth Ann Walker of Dowling; 27 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.
At the request of the family, a graveside service to celebrate Doris's life will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 16, 2009 at the Hicks Cemetery, Pennfield Township. Arrangements were entrusted to the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the family, would be appreciated.
