Mrs. Irene Virginia Allebaugh, widow of Samuel R. Allebaugh, died at her home in Lacey Springs this morning following several months of ill health. A week ago Mrs. Allebaugh suffered a fractured hip and never regained her strength from the shock.
She was born at Lacey Spring on June 15, 1870 and was a daughter of Charles J. and Henrietta Pennybacker Brock.
Mrs. Allebaugh was widely acquainted in the Lacey Spring community and was one of the oldest and most beloved women of that community. She spent her entire life in the Lacey Spring section.
On January 26, 1892, she married Samuel R. Allebaugh, who preceded her in death on August 3, 1937.
Surviving are two sons, James Allebaugh, at home and Robert Allebaugh, of Newport News and a brother, Frank Brock, of Lacey Spring.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at two o'clock from the home with the Rev. Franklin Sanger officiating. Interment will be in Lacey Spring Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Byrd, J.E. Williams, Earl Koontz, William Brock, Julian Brock, Robert Bowman, Tom Harrison and John Yancey.
