Harry Doyle Leach was born on July 17, 1911 at Deerfield Township, Isabella, Michigan. From an excerpt from the Life Story of his father, Bert Leach we read, "When Almy was ready to have my oldest son Harry Doyle Leach we couldn't reach the doctor. So I helped Almy in the delivery. Soon Mrs. Forbes arrived and cleaned up Harry. Then about an hour later the doctor arrived, and was he surprised to see Almy and Harry both doing fine. He asked me who tied the cord and I answered proudly I did. Harry was born on Tim McMann's farm."

1920 census shows Harry D (age 8) living in Flint City, Genesee, Michigan with his father Bert (age 29), mother Ella A (age 27), and his brother Meredith G (age 6). It states that Harry's father was working as a Conductor on the Electric Rail Road. The census also shows a brother-in-law, Alfred B Unger (age 46) was living with the family and was working as a Motorman on the Electric Rail Road.

1930 census shows Harry D (age 18) living in Flint City, Genesee, Michigan with his step-father Alfred B Unger (age 56), his mother Ella A (age 38), and his brother Meredith G (age 17). It also states that he was working as a laborer in an auto factory. Harry's step-father, Alfred, was working as a Motorman on a streetcar.

Harry was married twice. His first marriage was to Mary Knight and they had one son.

On 2 June 1944, he married his sweetie, Hattie Louise Brewington Register in San Diego, San Diego, California. Louise had two daughters from a previous marriage. Together Harry and Louise had four living children and one stillborn child.

In 1960, Harry built a home and moved his family to Vista, San Diego, California. Harry lived in Vista until he passed away in 1978.

Harry was a Civil Engineer for the county of San Diego and his nickname was "Hap" because of his happy disposition.

Harry was an active participant in the Oceanside IOOF (Independent Order of Odd Fellows) and held many offices. He was initiated in Oceanside Lodge #146 and having passed through the chairs was selected to serve District 100 as their D.D.G.M., after which he was active in Committee Assignments for the Grand Lodge.

Harry passed away at Kiser Hospital, on Zion Street, in San Diego, California after a 5 year struggle with lung cancer.

Obituary says he served in the Navy in World War II.
