Prior to his draft into Battery B, 138th Field Artillery, 38th Division, Ben worked at Lumaghi mine No. 2.
He died at the age of 28 of pneumonia while serving in France. He was survived by seven brothers and sisters, Mary, John, Edward, Mrs. Lizzie Molinar, Leonard, Cora, and George, the latter living in Louisville, Kentucky.
