Graveside services for James C. Carney Sr., 82, will be at 2 p.m. today at Desert Lawn Cemetery in Calimesa. He died of emphysema Friday at his home in Cabazon.
Wiefels and Son Memorial Chapel in Banning is handling the arrangements.
Mr. Carney, who was born in Rudy, Ariz., moved from South Gate to Cabazon 18 years ago. He was a certified welder for 56 years, mostly for Pacific Steel Building Co. He retired in 1975.
He was active in Boy Scouts.
He was a member of Local 509 Structural Steel Workers and the Pipefitters Union.
Mr. Carney is survived by his wife, Yvonne; three sons, Robert of Cabazon, William of Moreno Valley, and James of Banning; a daughter, Reba Frances Jones of Rudy, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ella McHaney of Van Buren, Ariz.
