Mrs. Inez Amell, 83, of the Don Smith Apartments died at 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18 at Saranac Lake General Hospital, where she had been a patient only a day. A Mass of the resurrection was celebrated by the Rev. Earl Nichols, pastor, at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Holy Name Church. Interment was at 10:30 a.m. Sunday in Holy Name Cemetery. Arrangements were with the Richer Funeral Home. She was born April 28, 1899 at Owl's Head, the daughter of Amede and Amelia Ploof Benware. Her family moved to Tupper Lake in 1917, and she was married at Holy Name Church on Dec. 21, 1925 to Wesley Amell. Mr. Amell died July 23, 1960. Mrs. Amell was active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary of Edmund Bujold Post 3120; the Tupper Lake Rod and Gun Club Auxiliary; the local and Franklin County senior citizens programs and R.S.V.P. (Retired Service Volunteers Program.) Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Shirley Adams of Phelps and Mrs. Clarence (Frances) Reandeau, Tupper Lake; a son, Richard Amell of this village; 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
