"Cavness, Helen Edith Barfoot, 91, passed away on February 12, 2011. She was born June 25, 1919 in Phoenix, AZ; one of 3 daughters of William Edward and Nettie Cavness. She received her Masters Degree in Elementary Education at ASU and taught school at Sutton Elementary School in Phoenix. She was a member of Gold Star Wives, First Families of Arizona, Campfire Girls, and a Deacon in the Historic First Presbyterian Church in Phoenix. She was known for her love and dedication to her family, her tenacious pioneer spirit, and her lifelong-charitable service for others. She is survived by her sister Martha Jane Gardiner of Houston, TX; daughter Linda BARFOOT Collins of Tempe, AZ; son Bob Barfoot of Tempe, AZ, son Bill Barfoot of Shoreline, WA; daughter Barbara BARFOOT Runyan of Mayer, AZ; sons-in-laws Bob Collins & Russ Runyan; daugther-in-law Linda Barfoot; 13 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. A graveside service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, February 26 at 11:30 a.m. at Greenwood Memorial Cemetery, 2300 W. Van Buren St., Phoenix, AZ 85009. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to the Historic First Presbyterian Church, 402 W. Monroe, Phoenix, AZ 85003.
