Jesse J. Baker, 78, of 670 Poplar St., died at 12:15am Tuesday at Coshocton County Memorial Hospital where he had been admitted Monday afternoon. He had been in ill health.
Mr. Baker operated a taxi service in Coshocton for a number of years and formerly was employed as a security guard at the old Moore Enamel and Manufacturing Co. in West Lafayette. At one time he was a candidate for Coshocton County Sheriff.
He was married to the former Freda Mirise, who died in 1952. Survivors are a half brother, Ira Baker, Guernsey, three nephews, Herald Gephart, and Lewis Gephart, Route 5, and Jesse Gephart, Coshocton.
Services will be held at 1:30pm Friday at the Dawson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Prairie Chapel Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9pm.

Jesse Baker, north 2nd st., injured the fingers of his hand July 4 when a firecracker exploded in his hand. He was treated by Dr. J. D. Lower. Baker is the only person reported injured by fireworks over the Fourth.
